Challenge

The customer used to distribute statistic information divided into a large number of different databases on CDs. The major problems faced by the customer were as follows:

  • outdated and uncomfortable user interface
  • low quality of data (no data history, inconsistency of data in different databases, etc.), and
  • high cost of CDs maintenance.

The customer wished to introduce a completely new system and contracted ELEKS Software for the development of The P.O.W.E.R.Link Portal.

Solution

ELEKS has delivered a portal solution that effectively combines all databases into one Internet-based tool. P.O.W.E.R.Link Portal is a Web portal for collecting and displaying statistic information for producers and consumers operating in engine, power products and components industries.

Having a single data warehouse, the P.O.W.E.R.Link Portal allows searching information through different data sets:

  • OE Link™ Vehicle and equipment production database
  • EnginLink™ Engine production and specifications database
  • PartsLink™ In-service population database for engines, components, vehicles and equipment.

The new system allows its users to access, organize, and download the latest enginepowered market data anytime from anywhere in the world. The P.O.W.E.R.Link Portal has extensive report writing capabilities and allows for customization and report distribution within an organization.

The system was developed to be used as a strategic marketing and planning device that allows analyzing worldwide market trends, identifying potential product opportunities, monitoring competitors, and evaluating target markets and accounts.

The users can also compare technical characteristics of engine models and analyze original equipment model specifications. Various component data modules are available with the databases. The standard databases can be customized and linked to end-user's internal data warehouses to match end-user's business model and information needs.

Customer benefits

The P.O.W.E.R.Link Portal has allowed the customer to:

  • acquire more customers through modern and enhanced user interface, increased quality of information and improved data access
  • track and archive data history, and
  • cut its product distribution costs.
