Ukraine’s Strong Educational System

Historically, both Ukraine and specifically Lviv, Ukraine, have had a longstanding tradition of having a strong educational system. 

• Ukraine has more than 800 universities and colleges.
• Ukraine is ranked #32 in the world in Education on the 2009 Legatum Prosperity Index of 104 countries – well ahead of India (#86) and China (#64).
• Ukraine represents only 1% of the world’s population, yet 6% of the world’s physicists, mathematicians and computer programmers are from Ukraine.
• In the 2011 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, Donetsk National University (Donetsk, Ukraine) ranked 8^th in the world and Lviv National University (officially Ivan Franko National Univ. of Lviv) ranked 13^th..  For comparison: Carnegie Mellon ranted 13^th, MIT ranked in 27^th place.  Source Link
